Terms of Service (draft)

1. Who we are

Filterping is operated by Gcd Software ("we", "us"). You can reach us at contact@filterping.com. Postal address and legal form of the business: To decide.

2. What these terms cover

These terms apply to Filterping Cloud, the hosted service we run at filterping.com and api.filterping.com, to this website, and to the Filterping app when it is connected to Filterping Cloud. By creating an account, buying a subscription or using the service, you agree to them.

The self-hosted edition is free software that you run on your own server. It is provided under the license published with its source code. When you self-host, we do not operate your server, receive your data or provide the service, so sections 4 to 7 do not apply to it.

3. Accounts

There are two kinds of account. A homeowner account manages properties, HVAC systems, filter tags, readers and tenant access. A tenant account sees the systems a homeowner has shared with it.
Give a valid email address, keep your password secret and tell us promptly if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to buy a subscription.

4. Filterping Cloud subscriptions

Priced per property. At checkout you choose how many properties you need. The price, the billing period and any taxes are shown there before you pay. Taxes: To decide.
One license key. Each purchase gives you one license key whose quota equals the number of properties you bought. You enter it in the app. A key can be redeemed by one homeowner account; the quotas of several active keys on one account add up. Keep your key confidential.
Changing the quantity. You can raise the number of properties later in the billing portal, and the same key then covers the new total. The charge for a change is shown before you confirm it.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel it.
Price changes apply from your next billing period, and we will tell you by email at least To decide: 30 days in advance.
Tenants and readers do not need a key; they are covered by their homeowner's subscription.

5. Cancellation, lapses and read-only mode

You can cancel at any time in the billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep full access until then.
If a subscription ends, is cancelled, or stays unpaid after Stripe's retry period, or if you have more properties than your active keys cover, your account becomes read-only: you can still view and export everything, but you cannot add properties or change data until your quota covers your properties again.
A lapse does not delete your data. How long we keep data after you close your account is described in the Privacy Policy.
Refunds are covered by the Refund Policy.

6. Your data

The information you put into Filterping (properties, systems, filter history, tags, notes and messages) remains yours. You allow us to store, process and back it up only as needed to provide the service to you and to the tenants you invite. You can export a system's history from the app at any time.

If you invite tenants, you are responsible for having the right to share the system's information with them. You can remove a tenant's access at any time.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use Filterping to break the law, to access accounts or data that are not yours, to probe or overload the service, to interfere with other users, or to resell the service without our written permission. Do not write personal data, addresses, passwords or other secrets onto NFC tags; tags are read by anyone with a phone. We may suspend accounts that break these rules, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents it.

8. Tags, readers and reminders

Filterping records a filter change only when someone confirms it in the app. A reader check-in shows only whether a tagged filter was detected; it is never counted as a filter change.
Replacement intervals and warning periods are the ones you set. Follow your equipment manufacturer's guidance and check your equipment yourself. Reminders help you remember; they are not a guarantee.
Filterping is not professional HVAC, health or air-quality advice.

9. Availability and changes

We work to keep Filterping Cloud available, but it may be interrupted for maintenance, updates or events outside our control. The app keeps filter changes recorded without a connection on your phone and sends them when you are back online. We may change or improve features; if a change significantly reduces what you paid for, you may cancel and ask for a refund under the Refund Policy.

10. Disclaimers

Except as required by law, Filterping is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for damage to equipment, property or health resulting from a missed or late filter change. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

12. Ending these terms

You can stop using Filterping and close your account at any time by writing to us. We may end or suspend your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. Sections 6, 10, 11 and 13 continue to apply after the terms end.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of To decide: state and country, and disputes are handled by the courts of To decide, unless the law of the country where you live as a consumer gives you other rights.

14. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will announce it on this page and by email at least To decide: 30 days before the change takes effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel before then.
